Since March, the Magic Hat team have voluntarily sourced, packed and delivered over 10,000 free food parcels, not only helping those who have been directly affected by COVID-19 but saving over 23 tonnes of food from landfill. With our normal cafe and market operations on hold, we are determined to carry on saving surplus, so we are launching our very own home delivery service to help support our work in the community;
  • Magic Hampers are filled with surplus surprises. You never know what’s coming! We don’t see these as an alternative to a shop but an added bonus, a weekend treat or a present for a loved one.
  • Each week we will fill a small crate with items which may include bread, fresh fruit/veg, confectionary, grains, tins, drinks and flowers – and deliver them to your doorstep.
  • Add optional additional items to your box like t-shirts, preserves, juice and tote bags. New products are added weekly!
  • The boxes are made up at the end of the week after we have distributed to organisations supporting people in need. They are made up of surplus produce that would otherwise be wasted, these boxes in no way jeopardise the contents of boxes delivered to organisations. 
  • Every box that is sold will fund food parcels to be delivered to organisations supporting vulnerable people in Newcastle and Gateshead during the crisis.
This is a brand new offering, so we’re offering these boxes at £10 including free delivery. We would greatly appreciate some brief feedback to help us develop and improve the service.

Where do you deliver to?
So far NE 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 however if we have the demand this will change to include wider Newcastle, Gateshead and the Coast. To log your interest and get your postcode on the map – email with the subject MAGIC HAMPERS and your postcode area.
It says you’re out of stock, when do orders open again?
Currently we are opening orders on Tuesday at 5pm for a Friday delivery, keep your eye on our facebook page as well for more updates.
What time does my hamper arrive?
Hampers will arrive on a Friday Afternoon between 12-7pm, we will leave them on the doorstep or in a safeplace on request – so you don’t even need to be in!
How do I pay?
Payment is taken in advance using our secure system. You can pay via credit/debit card, PayPal or BACS. No details are stored or held by the Magic Hat Cafe.
Can I order a Vegetarian/Vegan or GF hamper?
Yes. BUT! What we get donated is out of our control. If you request a GF or Vegan box and we don’t have the supply, we will have to refund your order.
Generally, the majority of our boxes will be suitable for vegetarians but please remember to state your dietary requirements on your online order.
What infection control measures do you have in place?
Food is sorted into parcels by a team of  volunteers under the supervision of a Magic Hat Cafe manager, ensuring infection control measures are upheld which include social distancing, hand wash stations, staggered volunteer arrival times and guidance documents sent to all volunteers. We recommend you follow guidelines on disinfecting food and any other items that are brought into your home.
